Introduction & Objective: Children have a very high ability to learn, with principled and correct planning can provide conditions for them to perform various motor activities to increase their motor reserve. Expansion of diverse motor reserves can reduce the risk of skeletal injury and obesity. In this regard, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between basic movement patterns with body composition and flat foot deformity.
Materials and Methods: The statistical population of the present study included children aged 3 to 6 years in district one of Tehran that 50 people from Novak Kindergarten participated in this study voluntarily. In order to evaluate the basic movement patterns, the 2016 Ulrich Coarse Motor Skills Test was used to examine the body composition of the in-body 270 device, and a digital photo scanner was used to evaluate the flat foot deformity.
Results: The results of Pearson correlation test showed a negative and significant relationship between body weight (P = 0.001), body mass index (P = 0.001), fat percentage (P = 0.001), Flat foot (P = 0.009) with movement and manipulation skills, also the relationship between musculoskeletal index with positive and significant basic movement patterns (P = 0.001) but with flat foot abnormalities It was negative and significant (P = 0.004). In addition, the results of linear regression showed that body weight has the highest predictability of motor skills and musculoskeletal index has the highest predictive power of flat feet of preschool children (P = 0.001).
Conclusion: According to the findings, it seems that by strengthening the movement patterns and musculoskeletal indicators, the occurrence of plantar fasciitis and overweight in children can be prevented.
