Background and Aims: Valgus dynamic knee is a modified pattern of movement or alignment of the lower limb that results in lower limb function in the frontal plane and excessive reaction force absorbed by the knee ligaments during exercise that increases ACL injury. The aim of this study was to Comparison of balance, strength and range of motion of the hip and ankle in athletes with and without Dynamic Knee Valgus defect.
Materials and Methods: The method of the present study was quasi-experimental and causal-comparative. 60 athletes were selected and divided into two groups of 30 people with and without Dynamic Knee Valgus defect. the tuck jump test was used to evaluate the Dynamic Valgus defect of the knee. In this study, the range of motion of the knee joint and ankle joint were determined using a goniometer and the isometric strength of the hip and ankle muscles was determined using a hand MMT. Then static and dynamic balance were evaluated by stork and Y tests, respectively. Independent t-test in SPSS software was used to compare the means of variables in the two groups.
Results: The results of the research findings showed between static balance (p=0.005), dynamic balance (p≤0.05), abduction strength (p=0.03) and external rotation of the hip (p=0.01) and There is a significant difference in the range of motion of the ankle dorsiflexion (p=0.03) between the two groups with and without Dynamic Knee Valgus. People without Dynamic Knee Valgus performed better than people with Dynamic Knee Valgus. But this difference in other variables between the two groups was not significant.
Conclusion: The results show the importance of improving the strength and range of motion in reducing the dynamic valgus defect of the knee and should be considered during the design of exercises.
