Background and Aims: Socialization and the ability to interact with others at all stages of life are essential. Healthy social development of adolescents requires natural and healthy development of personality and learning social skills and Storytelling is a great way to help your child's intellectual development. This study aimed to investigate the effect of storytelling on the social skills of 6th-grade school students.
Materials and Methods: The Quasi-experimental with a pre-test, post-test, follow-up, and a control group was used. The statistical population included 12-years-old elementary school students in Tehran's 1st districts in 2019. Using purposeful sampling, 40 male students were selected and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (20 students in each group). The experimental group had 14 sessions of training (each session longed for 30 minutes). A questionnaire measuring social growth was used to collect the data, which was completed by the students. Data analysis of covariance was used to analyze the data.
Results: The findings showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in social skills (P <0.05). The scores of social skills were increased in the experimental group after the intervention, and in the follow-up phase, these results were stable.
Conclusion: Based on the present study results, it can be concluded that storytelling is an effective way to increase students' social skills and can be used in educational settings.
